Thankfulness

I remember reading a verse in Psalms the year I was in Niger, it stated how important thankfulness is and that it ultimately leads to salvation... I'll have to dedicate some time to search for the reference!  At that point in my life, while I was reflecting on its meaning I knew there was much more to that verse.  Since Niger and living in a dorm assisting 12 MK's I am brought to the realization that more times then not I express frustration or disapproval to others... my attitude and heart criticize instead of uplift and encourage.  In other words, thankfulness isn't 1st nature to me.

How often do I extend a sincere, "Thank you for helping me accomplish that task.  I could never have done it without you."  or, "Honey, I know you were exhausted from a long day of work, so thank you for volunteering to put Keziah to bed.  It gave me a few minutes to myself, which I needed."?  And how often do I tell others the good things done to me?  This may help them see the world in a new light as well!

I could share how Justin did the dishes, or gave our daughter a bath, or bought me flowers (even if we didn't have the money for them at the time)... Sure, he isn't always that thoughtful and sweet, but he does go to work (and has currently been on the clock 12+ hours, which is why he still isn't home).  He doesn't complain about his work or the hours he puts in on long day like today.  There are more things to be thankful for than things to complain about - and that's a FACT!  Some food for thought!

I'm glad to be back online to share some of my thoughts!  Good night, world!
